Playmode lags on exit in a nearly empty game... I'm new to Unity please help :)

Hey, So I don't know why this is happening and I haven't found any posts relating/explaining this. So it take me like 30 seconds to exit playmode (if it exits playmode at all) when I have a gameobject in my scene. I know this is not because of my computer or Unity as I was following a tutorial and I somehow solved this problem, but I don't know how I did so. Anyway I went back and followed the first tutorial again and there was no obvious part that would address this problem, and in fact, even though I followed the tutorial exactly I still had this problem even at points that the presenter did not. To Reproduce: 1:Create new file 2:Create a 3D gameobject 3:Save scene (also happens if I don't save my scene) 4:Entre playmode and wait until the play symbol turns blue 5:Exit playmode Then Unity lags like crazy, plays the game scene at like 1fps (or less), the seconds on my computer's clock won't even update (graphically only), Unity seems to exit playmode but then Unity becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit Unity. I don't know why this is happening or how to fix it. This is especially frustrating because I got it to work before when I was having this problem but I don't know how I fixed it in the first place, the only action I took before it worked last time was to save the scene so I thought it was that but that no longer seems to be the case. please send help :) Thanks I'm using Unity 5.5.1f1 Personal, on my macbook pro (Edit: Im using 5.6.1f1, that was a typo) P.S I'm also getting this notice in the console "Metal: Editor support disabled, skipping device initialization" but I'm not sure if that has to do anything with anything...
